Ivermectin

Ivermectin (CAS 70288-86-7) is a macrocyclic lactone anthelmintic derived from the fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. It is a mixture of two homologues, B1a and B1b, with the former comprising at least 90%. The compound works by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in nerve and muscle cells of parasites, leading to paralysis and death. It is widely used in veterinary medicine and has applications in human health, particularly for onchocerciasis and strongyloidiasis.
