Sodium glycocholate (CAS 863-57-0) is the sodium salt of glycocholic acid, a conjugated bile acid formed by the amidation of cholic acid with glycine. It occurs naturally in the bile of mammals and plays a key role in fat emulsification and absorption. We supply it as a white to off-white crystalline powder with ≥98% purity (HPLC), specifically grades for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical applications.
This product is widely used as a biological detergent, a solubilizing agent for membrane proteins, and an intermediate in the synthesis of bile acid derivatives. Its amphiphilic nature makes it particularly effective in lipid-based drug delivery systems and cell lysis buffers.
Synonymes : Glycocholic acid sodium salt, N-(3α,7α,12α-trihydroxy-24-oxocholan-24-yl)glycine sodium salt, Sodium 3α,7α,12α-trihydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oylglycinate
Every batch is tested for assay (HPLC ≥98%), loss on drying (≤3.0%) and heavy metals (≤10 ppm). Full COA, MSDS and TDS are available on request; stability data can be provided for qualification.
