Hydroxyapatite (HA or HAp) is a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium apatite and the primary inorganic component of human bone and tooth enamel. It accounts for approximately 60–70% of bone mass and 95–99% of enamel, making it one of the most important biomaterials in medical and dental applications.
Synthetic hydroxyapatite is chemically identical to biological hydroxyapatite and is biocompatible, osteoconductive, and non‑toxic. Its structure allows for strong bonding with bone tissue, making it an ideal material for bone regeneration, dental implants, and drug delivery systems.
In cosmetic and personal care applications, hydroxyapatite is used as a gentle abrasive in toothpaste and as a remineralizing agent to repair early enamel lesions. Its nanoparticle form is also being explored for targeted drug delivery and diagnostic imaging.

CALCIUM PHOSPHATE
Bone regeneration: Supports osteoconduction and new bone formation.
Dental remineralization: Restores enamel integrity and reduces sensitivity.
Biocompatibility: Excellent integration with host tissue.
Drug delivery carrier: Sustained release of pharmaceuticals.
Gentle abrasive: Used in oral care products for cleaning without enamel damage.
Cosmetic applications: Skin conditioning and mineral absorption.
Source: Synthetic (wet chemical precipitation, sol‑gel, or hydrothermal methods) or natural (bovine, marine, or eggshell-derived)
Normalisation: ≥99.99% hydroxyapatite (as Ca₅(PO₄)₃(OH))
