Permethrin

Permethrin (CAS 52645-53-1) is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that has been a workhorse in both agricultural and public health applications for decades. It is a racemic mixture of cis and trans isomers, typically supplied as a technical grade powder with ≥95% purity. The compound acts on insect sodium channels, causing prolonged depolarization and rapid paralysis—a mode of action that remains effective against a broad spectrum of pests, including lice, ticks, fleas, and agricultural lepidopteran larvae.
