What is Minoxidil?
Minoxidil was originally developed as an oral antihypertensive (vasodilator) medication. Its hair growth-promoting effect was discovered serendipitously when patients experienced hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth) as a side effect. Today, it is the most clinically established topical treatment for androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness).
