Pyrethrins (25% / 50% Purity)

Synonymes : Pyrethrins, Pyrethrum Extract, Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium Extract, Dalmatian Chrysanthemum Extract, Natural Insecticide, Pyrethrum Concentrate, Pyrethrin I, Pyrethrin II, Pyrethrum Flower Extract

Pyrethrins are a natural mixture of six insecticidal esters derived from the dried flower heads of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium (also known as Dalmatian chrysanthemum or pyrethrum daisy). The six active compounds are Pyrethrin IPyrethrin IICinerin ICinerin IIJasmolin I, and Jasmolin II. These compounds are highly effective against a wide range of insects while exhibiting low mammalian toxicity, making pyrethrins one of the most widely used botanical insecticides in the world.

The mechanism of action involves interference with the sodium channels in insect nerve cells, causing rapid paralysis and mortality. Pyrethrins have a fast knockdown effect and are biodegradable, making them suitable for use in organic farming, public health, and household pest control.

Pyrethrins are available in two standardized grades:

  • 25% Pyrethrins: Liquid or powder formulation for cost‑effective agricultural and pest control applications.

  • 50% Pyrethrins: High‑potency concentrate for specialty formulations and research.

  • Insecticidal activity: Rapid knockdown and mortality of insects via sodium channel disruption.

  • Fast-acting: Immediate paralysis upon contact.

  • Broad-spectrum: Effective against a wide range of flying and crawling insects.

  • Biodegradable: Rapidly decomposes in sunlight and air.

  • Organic-compatible: Suitable for use in certified organic agriculture.

  • Low mammalian toxicity: Safe for use around humans and pets when used as directed.

Source & Standardization Grades

  • Source: Dried flower heads of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium

  • Extraction: Solvent extraction or supercritical CO₂ extraction

  • Normalisation: 25% or 50% total pyrethrins (HPLC)

Foire aux questions

Q: What is the difference between pyrethrins and pyrethroids?
A: Pyrethrins are natural compounds extracted from chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethroids are synthetic analogues, designed to be more stable and longer‑lasting than natural pyrethrins.

Q: Are pyrethrins safe for use around humans and pets?
A: Pyrethrins have low mammalian toxicity and are rapidly metabolized by the body. However, they are highly toxic to fish and bees, so precautions should be taken to avoid contamination of water bodies and flowering plants.

Q: Are pyrethrins approved for organic farming?
A: Yes, pyrethrins are approved for use in certified organic agriculture in many countries, including the EU and the US.

Q: How are pyrethrins stored?
A: Pyrethrins are sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen. They should be stored in airtight containers, protected from light, at a cool temperature.

Q: What purity grades are available for pyrethrins?
A: We supply Pyrethrins standardized to 25% et 50% total pyrethrins (HPLC).
