Chenodeoxycholic Acid

Chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) is a primary bile acid synthesized in the liver from cholesterol. It is the most abundant bile acid in human bile and plays a critical role in lipid digestion and absorption. This product is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder with ≥98% purity (HPLC), specifically graded for pharmaceutical and research applications.

CDCA is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in the treatment of gallstones (cholelithiasis) and is also a key intermediate in the synthesis of other bile acids like ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA). Its amphipathic nature makes it valuable in formulation science, particularly for enhancing drug solubility and bioavailability.
