Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is the acetylated ester of L-Carnitine, endogenously synthesized and also present in mitochondrial membranes.
It serves a dual role: facilitating fatty acid transport for β-oxidation and supplying acetyl groups for the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and acetylcholine synthesis.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine
Acetyl donor: Supports acetylcholine production and TCA cycle flux.
Mitochondrial function: Transports fatty acids into mitochondria for ATP generation.
Blood-brain barrier penetration: Acetyl group enhances central nervous system bioavailability.
Antioxidant modulation: Indirectly supports redox balance via mitochondrial maintenance.
