Tetramethyluric acid, commonly known as Theacrine, is a purine alkaloid naturally found in the leaves of the Camellia assamica var. kucha (a rare wild tea plant native to China) and in the fruit of Coffea arabica. It shares a similar chemical structure with caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine) but with an additional methyl group at the 9-position (1,3,7,9-tetramethyluric acid).
